Neogrid system organising a large drawer

Why are your drawers always a hot mess?

Perhaps you have Gridfinity for the small stuff, but wish there was something for bigger items like clothes, thick cables, kitchen utensils, or power tools?

Not adaptable

Your life changes all the time, but built-in dividers can't. You buy something new, and the whole system fails.

No standards

Most store-bought organisers don't match your drawers' exact dimensions — one size fits none.

Don't work together

Systems differ throughout your home, meaning you're forced to use custom, isolated approaches everywhere.

Plays well with openGrid + Gridfinity

For the strongest hold, I recommend using openGrid as your drawer base. Neogrid connectors click firmly into the openGrid tile, giving your large dividers a rock-solid grip.

Need Gridfinity bins alongside your Neogrid dividers? Print an openGrid-to-Gridfinity adapter for any section of the grid, and your small bins sit right next to your large dividers in the same drawer.

Already running Gridfinity drawers? You can skip openGrid entirely — Neogrid also comes in Gridfinity-compatible pieces that click straight onto a standard Gridfinity base. The trade-off is a slightly lighter hold on the dividers, but it means zero re-printing if you're already set up.

How to Build a Neogrid Drawer

01
Choose a base
I recommend openGrid for the strongest divider grip, but Neogrid also works with Gridfinity and even on its own - no grid required!
02
Choose your material
As Neogrid organises larger items, it is not usually realistic to 3D-print full dividers. Use MDF, acrylic or uPVC window trim (utility board) — it's cheap, requires no painting and cuts easily.
03
Print a test piece
Measure your material thickness. The default connectors fit 8.5mm boards (standard UK utility board). Print an X-junction as a test — you want a snug fit that stays on if turned upside down.
04
Cut to length
Cut your divider material. For maximum flexibility and openGrid compatibility, ensure your lengths are multiples of 25mm (minus the 8.5mm material thickness), or for Gridfinity compatibility the lengths should be multiples of 42mm (minus material thickness).
05
Print and fit
Print the 3D connectors that go with your chosen base (Gridfinity or openGrid). Start with X-junctions for the core, then use T, L and I pieces for edges and custom compartments. Slot them onto an openGrid or Gridfinity base if desired.

The Core Connectors

View All Parts →
✖️
X Junction
The core connector. Joins 4 boards together in a cross. The most flexible piece to start with.
T Junction
Used to intersect a dividing board against a continuous straight run.
L Corner
Perfect for corners or finishing the edge of a custom walled compartment.
I Connector
Used to extend the length of a board by joining two straight pieces end-to-end.

By default, all connectors target 8.5mm material thickness. To get a perfect custom fit for your specific boards, open up the provided Fusion 360 files and change the material thickness parameter.

What You'll Need to Get Started

Here's what I use and recommend — but any FDM printer and PLA will do the job.

Sheet Material
uPVC utility board (8.5mm), MDF or acrylic. Cheap, easy to cut, and no painting needed.
